Hera AI Motion Designer Update and Workflow

Transcript

00:00:00.080 Guess how long it took to create these 00:00:02.000 advanced looking motion graphics. 30 00:00:04.480 minutes, an hour, an hour and a half. 00:00:08.080 Well, it was all less than 1 minute 00:00:10.800 each. 00:00:11.440 The idea. 00:00:12.880 Do you remember this guys? Finally, 00:00:14.799 after 4 months of waiting and all of you 00:00:16.960 guys asking me, 00:00:17.920 "Where's the Hera?" 00:00:20.400 The AI motion designer is back. The 00:00:23.279 design has changed slightly. We've got a 00:00:26.640 new prompt box, a bunch of new features 00:00:28.560 we'll be testing out today, and most 00:00:30.640 importantly, the back end of Hera has 00:00:32.960 been properly rebuilt to handle all the 00:00:36.239 new users because last time it went kind 00:00:39.040 of boom. Like, the video went kind of 00:00:42.559 viral and you guys liked it a little bit 00:00:45.840 too much. Just like last time, I'm going 00:00:47.920 to try to recreate three animations from 00:00:50.960 creators known for clean and well-edited 00:00:53.760 content. But along the way, I'll be 00:00:55.600 giving you tips on how to actually use 00:00:57.440 this tool since I've been using it 00:00:59.520 almost daily for the past 5 months 00:01:02.239 across a variety of projects. I'll also 00:01:04.879 be giving my honest opinion and we'll be 00:01:07.360 addressing some of the comments from the 00:01:09.360 last video. We're going to start off 00:01:10.000 No text 00:01:10.720 with an animation from Isaac. This is 00:01:13.600 the original and let's see if Hera is 00:01:16.960 capable of recreating something like 00:01:18.799 this. But here's a little twist. I will 00:01:20.960 not be allowed to add a reference image 00:01:23.280 or video because that's a feature in 00:01:25.040 Hera, which is really cool. But I'm just 00:01:28.080 trying to create an animation based 00:01:30.880 solely on the prompt. That's it. Start 00:01:33.920 off with the word assets. Make sure that 00:01:39.119 it has a subtle globe behind it. Fade 00:01:44.079 in, scale down, animation, plus blur 00:01:49.040 out. Once the text is already present, 00:01:52.320 zoom out. I just checked on Adobe fonts 00:01:56.079 what type of font this is. So I'm just 00:01:57.600 going to address this 00:02:00.240 written with the font while zooming out 00:02:04.719 for the curved out lines slightly orange 00:02:10.720 like a gradient and step by step lead 00:02:14.400 outwards music presets overlay sound 00:02:17.920 effects. These words must be slightly 00:02:22.080 smaller and written in a handwriting 00:02:26.319 font. While this is generating, I want 00:02:28.160 to address a kind of common or I just 00:02:30.800 saw a couple of comments that said, "Why 00:02:34.000 am I leaking a tool that's a threat to 00:02:36.959 the video editing community? Because I'm 00:02:38.800 making it easier for AI to take over our 00:02:41.280 jobs." And I'm going to be honest. 00:02:42.959 Here's the thing. If you choose to 00:02:44.800 pretend and hide like AI isn't a thing, 00:02:48.400 you're just going to get left behind. 00:02:50.000 And as a professional, I'm open to using 00:02:52.239 tools that are just going to save me 00:02:54.560 time in my workshop. And Hera helps me 00:02:57.920 save a couple hours every week. However, 00:02:59.519 I still have to edit the videos. I still 00:03:01.360 have to do some animations manually, and 00:03:03.360 I still have to come up with ideas. This 00:03:05.519 is just a tool that's supposed to help 00:03:07.599 you do stuff fast. Initially, the result 00:03:10.400 is kind of whack. But what we going to 00:03:12.159 do now? I'm going to use the Hera design 00:03:13.599 agent, which basically it's going to 00:03:15.519 take like I don't know 10 seconds longer 00:03:16.879 to create the animation, but essentially 00:03:18.239 it's going to be way better. At least 00:03:19.280 from my experience. Let's see what 00:03:20.480 happens. 00:03:22.000 Okay, this looks way better. Okay, so 00:03:23.680 this is as far as we can get probably. 00:03:25.599 Um, of course it's not perfect. I think 00:03:27.519 that definitely the lines could be 00:03:29.519 improved. I could also ask here for a 00:03:31.040 different pacing where each of these 00:03:33.040 text layers um would show up gradually 00:03:35.599 after each line showing up one by one. 00:03:38.159 Um, but I think it nailed the animation 00:03:40.959 at the beginning. I like to clip this. 00:03:42.560 This one versus this one. I think here I 00:03:44.879 even did a better job of this. One more 00:03:46.879 thing. We want the background to be 00:03:48.000 black. So, let me just do that with the 00:03:50.080 color change tool. And now this should 00:03:52.080 finally look way more similar to what we 00:03:55.040 had at the beginning as reference. And 00:03:56.720 yeah, it does. 00:04:03.840 Next animation is going to be from Ali 00:04:04.000 No text 00:04:05.680 Obal. It looks like this. And this time 00:04:08.239 I'm going to allow myself to take a 00:04:10.159 screenshot of this so that I can allow 00:04:12.560 Hera to get inspired from that 00:04:14.560 particular image. But I'm not going to 00:04:16.880 give it a screen recording. I'm just 00:04:18.079 going to give it a screenshot. I'm going 00:04:19.120 to describe how I want it animated. So 00:04:20.560 image or video and we can guide her with 00:04:22.800 an image or video. And I'm just going to 00:04:24.240 choose that screenshot. Okay. And I'm 00:04:26.560 I'm going to keep it like a square 00:04:28.960 format. Please create specifically 00:04:32.479 super similar animation animated version 00:04:36.960 of this. You must start off with a scale 00:04:41.840 and start off with zero years and all 00:04:45.919 the dots around the year number must 00:04:50.400 start off as black and gradually fill up 00:04:55.120 until it hits how many years? 3 years. 00:04:59.919 Let me just click enter and let's see 00:05:01.120 what this generates for us. While this 00:05:02.560 is generating, let me address a bunch of 00:05:04.160 different comments that people left 00:05:06.160 beneath the last video about Hera where 00:05:07.919 some of you said that the quality of the 00:05:09.600 animations just looks average or it 00:05:12.160 doesn't look high quality. I get that. 00:05:14.479 But let's be honest, this tool 00:05:16.240 definitely isn't created or maybe it is 00:05:18.240 created in mind for that, but it 00:05:21.360 definitely isn't able and it won't 00:05:24.240 replace graphic designers or video 00:05:26.639 editors at this current state. Not at 00:05:28.880 all. But for people like me, for people 00:05:31.520 like you, video editors, creators, it's 00:05:33.680 a great tool to generate a bunch of 00:05:35.440 simple motion graphics just to get that 00:05:37.280 stuff out of the way. Sometimes generate 00:05:38.800 a bunch of text animations. Or 00:05:40.400 alternatively, I also found myself in a 00:05:42.240 bunch of situations where I used 00:05:44.479 animations or I used motion graphics 00:05:46.320 generated with Hera as components of a 00:05:49.520 bigger project in After Effects which 00:05:51.600 was a bigger animation but the thing I 00:05:53.759 generated in Hera was just a small 00:05:55.360 element of that piece of that project 00:05:58.560 and I think that sort of clears it out. 00:06:00.960 Okay, let's take a look. Please make the 00:06:04.160 circle with the dots bigger. animate do 00:06:09.840 like a fade in or some text animation 00:06:14.639 for not just the box but everything. And 00:06:20.560 I also want to address that it cannot 00:06:21.919 touch touch the year count. Please get 00:06:25.039 to 3 years 00:06:27.039 after 00:06:28.560 3 seconds of the animation. And keep in 00:06:31.680 mind that 3 years should fill up 30% of 00:06:36.880 that circle. Okay. Okay. Bam. Let's look 00:06:39.840 at this. Two. Three. Okay. I think we 00:06:43.520 did it. And export video. 00:06:49.000 No text 00:06:49.039 And the next animation we're going to 00:06:51.199 recreate is from Iman Gazi, but it's 00:06:54.639 kind of challenging and I don't know if 00:06:57.039 her will manage recreating this. We're 00:06:59.520 going to see. We're going to see. Last 00:07:01.520 time we recreated a little bit of a 00:07:03.360 simpler animation and it did a quite 00:07:05.120 good job. I'm not sure if it's going to 00:07:07.199 it's going to be able to do something 00:07:08.720 like this. At least we're going to try 00:07:11.039 to partially recreate this or I don't 00:07:13.680 know. We're going to see. And I'm going 00:07:15.199 to use the guide Hera with video 00:07:17.280 function. So, I'm going to give Hera 00:07:18.720 this animation in particular, and I'm 00:07:20.960 going to give it a prompt, a little bit 00:07:22.960 more concise prompt, so that it can get 00:07:24.400 more inspired strictly from the 00:07:26.000 recording. But I I I really don't know 00:07:28.080 what to expect here kind of. Okay, we've 00:07:30.400 added this animation right here. 00:07:32.960 Recreate this. Let's maybe keep it at 00:07:36.960 five steps. And let's change the color 00:07:39.680 scheme, the color scheme to orange. And 00:07:43.440 probably we would normally if you're 00:07:45.520 trying to recreate an animation, you 00:07:46.639 probably would get inspired from someone 00:07:47.840 and you'd provide some sort of different 00:07:50.160 context where because this is like about 00:07:51.919 desexualizing your brain or something. 00:07:53.680 I'm not going to ask you to change the 00:07:54.879 topic, but generally you probably would 00:07:56.400 use this in a situation where you'd need 00:07:57.759 to describe something else. For example, 00:08:00.319 six steps or five steps to do something 00:08:02.960 optimize SEO on your website or 00:08:04.400 something like that, something 00:08:05.120 different. In that case, you would need 00:08:06.960 to be prompt a bit more. But I just want 00:08:09.199 to strictly see the capabilities of Hera 00:08:11.120 with something like this. And this this 00:08:12.560 is an animation which if this does it 00:08:15.120 any good, I'm going to be surprised 00:08:16.720 because it's kind of it's kind of this 00:08:18.639 is like an A tier graphics design. I 00:08:20.479 mean this is like an A tier motion 00:08:21.759 graphics designer sort of stuff. So I 00:08:24.080 mean it's even gazy quality to me. Okay. 00:08:26.560 Okay. That's not good. Okay. Um so 00:08:29.840 everything else I think we we would 00:08:31.759 skip. I was just wondering if we could 00:08:33.360 at least get like the five steps like 00:08:34.799 the five steps nicely animated. So let 00:08:37.039 me just think about because the rest I 00:08:38.479 mean I'm totally not surprised I didn't 00:08:40.159 get the rest. Um but please just let's 00:08:43.760 keep it at five steps steps only and do 00:08:48.160 not do any other animation slash later. 00:08:52.320 So that's the first thing I want to 00:08:53.360 address. So let's just keep it at five 00:08:54.560 steps. So for example, if you're doing a 00:08:56.160 video, let's say you're doing an intro 00:08:57.279 for the video with that SEO thing, you 00:08:59.040 can say today we're going to talk about 00:09:00.480 five things to increase SEO and we like 00:09:02.880 added text. Could have requested for 00:09:04.640 Hero to do that, but you get the drill. 00:09:06.399 Let's just keep it at five steps and 00:09:07.760 let's just limit the animation at that. 00:09:09.920 I don't find it smooth enough. So, I'm 00:09:11.360 just going to use the design agent 00:09:12.880 again. And I think like the design agent 00:09:14.959 is the biggest sort of breakthrough when 00:09:16.480 it comes to Hera because with with like 00:09:18.000 the first launch of Hera sometimes, 00:09:19.760 okay, you would get animations good at 00:09:21.040 at first, okay, but then they wouldn't 00:09:23.440 be sometimes would be a little bit too 00:09:24.959 rough and sometimes they would be a 00:09:26.880 little bit laggy. This sort of fixes the 00:09:28.720 issue like 70% of the time. So, let's 00:09:31.519 see if it does right now. Okay, now we 00:09:33.440 use the design agent and let's see what 00:09:34.800 happens. Okay, there's a bit of a glitch 00:09:37.839 with the glow. 00:09:42.080 Or what you could actually do later on 00:09:43.360 is export these 1 2 3 4 5 in our case 00:09:46.320 five steps and export them with a 00:09:48.880 transparent background and then continue 00:09:50.160 doing the rest of the animation in After 00:09:51.279 Effects. That's what I said earlier. You 00:09:52.399 know, you can incorporate things 00:09:54.080 generated with Hera in more complex 00:09:55.760 animations, more complex projects. 00:09:56.959 That's what I find it useful for in a 00:09:58.880 lot of cases. Okay, it got rid of the 00:10:00.959 the glow thing entirely and yeah, I 00:10:02.160 think it looks good now. Plus, one more 00:10:04.160 thing I want to mention. Let's just get 00:10:05.040 back to this animation for example. What 00:10:06.320 I really like they incorporated that 00:10:07.519 they didn't have last time. As far as I 00:10:08.640 remember, they didn't have this feature. 00:10:09.680 When you click export, there would be no 00:10:10.959 feature that would allow you to export 00:10:12.399 with a transparent background, which 00:10:14.959 nowadays I I really appreciate the fact 00:10:17.519 that they added this because because I 00:10:18.959 need to around with removing the 00:10:20.160 background either using green and ultra 00:10:22.160 key or luma key for removing a black 00:10:24.320 background. It's just there. I can 00:10:26.079 import it into Premiere Pro or or any 00:10:27.519 kind of video editing software of choice 00:10:29.600 and the background is going to be 00:10:31.440 removed instantly. 00:10:35.279 You can find a 15% discount and invite 00:10:38.560 link in the description down below. I 00:10:41.040 hope you find it useful and make sure to 00:10:43.200 check out this video if it seems 00:10:45.360 interesting to you. And I hope to see 00:10:46.800 you in the next

Summary

  • Introduction to the updated Hera: The video starts by highlighting the return of Hera, noting its redesigned interface, new features, and improved backend to handle more users.
  • Recreating Animations:
    • Animation 1 (Isaac): The creator attempts to recreate an animation solely based on a text prompt, without using a reference image or video. He details the prompt given to Hera, including text content, font specifications, animation styles (fade in, scale down, blur out, zoom out), and color schemes. The initial result is "kind of whack," but improves significantly after using the "Hera design agent."
    • Animation 2 (Ali Abdaal): This time, the creator uses a screenshot as a reference for Hera. The prompt focuses on animating a year counter with dots filling up. After some refinement, the result is deemed successful.
    • Animation 3 (Iman Gadzhi): For this more challenging animation, a video reference is provided to Hera. The initial attempt to recreate the complex multi-step animation isn't successful. The creator then simplifies the request to focus only on the "five steps" part of the animation, which, after using the design agent, yields a better result.
  • Addressing Community Feedback:
    • Threat to Editors: The creator dismisses the idea that AI tools like Hera are a threat, arguing that professionals should embrace tools that save time. He emphasizes that Hera assists with tasks but doesn't replace the need for manual editing, idea generation, or complex animations.
    • Animation Quality: He acknowledges that Hera's animations might seem "average" but highlights its utility for creating simple motion graphics quickly or as components for more complex projects in software like After Effects.
  • Key Hera Features Highlighted:
    • Prompt-based generation: Creating animations from text descriptions.
    • Image/Video Reference: Guiding Hera with visual input.
    • Hera Design Agent: A feature that refines and improves the quality of the generated animations.
    • Transparent Background Export: A new and appreciated feature allowing easy integration into video editing software.
  • Conclusion: The creator finds Hera useful for saving time and generating elements for larger projects. He also mentions a discount and invite link in the description.
